AI Disclosure for CalNutri AI
Last Updated: April 5, 2026
CalNutri AI uses artificial intelligence (AI) to help you track nutrition. This AI Disclosure explains how AI is used in the app, how your data is processed by AI services, and the limitations of AI-generated results.
How AI Works in CalNutri AI
CalNutri AI uses artificial intelligence to analyze food photos and text descriptions you provide, and to estimate nutritional information such as calories, macronutrients, and micronutrients.
When you log a meal, your food photos and text descriptions are sent to third-party AI services for analysis. This processing happens on external servers, not on your device.
Third-Party AI Services
CalNutri AI relies on the following third-party AI service providers to perform food analysis:
- OpenAI (https://openai.com/policies/row-privacy-policy)
- Google Gemini (https://ai.google.dev/gemini-api/terms)
- Anthropic Claude (https://www.anthropic.com/privacy)
We use paid API tiers from all providers. Under their commercial API terms, none of these providers use your data to train their AI models by default.
These providers may temporarily retain your data for a limited period (typically 30–55 days) solely for abuse monitoring and policy enforcement, after which it is automatically deleted. CalNutri AI does not control the data handling practices of these third-party providers beyond our contractual agreements with them.
For more details on how CalNutri AI handles your personal data, see our Privacy Policy (https://spaceendurance.com/calnutriai/privacy/).
Accuracy & Limitations
All nutritional values provided by CalNutri AI are AI-generated estimates, not precise measurements. Results may vary depending on factors including, but not limited to:
- Photo angle, lighting, and image quality
- Portion size and food presentation
- Hidden or non-visible ingredients (e.g., oils, sauces, or seasonings added to a dish)
- Similar-looking foods with different nutritional profiles
For example, a photo of pasta may not accurately reflect added olive oil, cream sauce, or the exact amount of cheese used.
These estimates are intended as a general guide to support your nutritional awareness and should not be treated as exact values.
Not Medical Advice
CalNutri AI is not a medical device and does not provide medical, clinical, or dietary advice. AI-estimated nutritional data should not be used as the sole basis for medical decisions or dietary planning.
If you have food allergies, intolerances, or specific health conditions, always verify nutritional information through qualified sources and consult a qualified healthcare professional before making dietary changes based on AI-generated estimates.
Your Responsibility
We encourage you to use AI-generated estimates as a helpful starting point, and to apply your own judgment when making dietary decisions. By using the AI features of CalNutri AI, you acknowledge the limitations described in this disclosure.
For specific dietary or health concerns, we recommend consulting a qualified professional.
Changes to AI Features
We may update, modify, add, or remove the AI services and providers used in CalNutri AI at any time. Significant changes to how AI processes your data will be reflected in an updated version of this disclosure.
We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. You are advised to review this disclosure periodically for any changes.
